Motorola Cliq get's a software update


Am sure theirs a lot of Motorola Cliq owners that are complaining about issues with your handset, well an update for the Cliq just started to go out over-the-air last night. According to Motorola’s website this update will help with a long list of issues with the Cliq from battery life to Quickoffice application. T-Mobile USA has confirmed on their Twitter page that the update will go out in waves. For more information on how to install the update go to Motorola’s site.

 

Relocated “End Call” Button: The “End Call” key was relocated within the calling screen to reduce instances of unintentionally ending Active calls

Text Messaging: General improvements to text messaging – especially for longer message threads

Improved Battery Life: Enhanced battery performance

Improved Touch Screen Sensitivity: Improves the touch screen sensitivity and response of the device-including touch sensitivity for keys on or around the display borders

Improved Audio Quality for Calls: Enhances audio quality in certain scenarios in which users experienced issues

MOTOBLUR Set-Up Screen:    Set-up wizard improved to make MOTOBLUR set-up for new users or those who have been prompted to re-enter information easier

Better Audio Routing: Repairs audio routing to prevent: spontaneous speakerphone activations during calls and the random occurrence of music playback through the earpiece instead of appropriate external speakers

Improved Caller Notification: Improves user interface performance-consistently notifying the user when a new call is coming in which reduces missed call notifications

Faster GPS Performance:    Provides faster GPS performance for applications such as Google Maps, Geotagging of photos and other GPS functions

Support For Additional Windows Media Formats: Compatible with more media formats including .WMA and .WAV Windows media files

Bluetooth Improvements: Enables the user to listen to visual voicemail via Bluetooth and enables the Bluetooth car kit to sync to user’s device therefore the car kit can display the names of incoming callers and download phone book contacts (calls can now be made from the car kit display and enables users to view the call history list from the car kit display)

SIM Card Management: Enables user to import, export or delete contacts individually or in groups

Android 2.1 for Motorola Droid & Cliq could be coming soon. 

 

 

 Motorola has released an update in regards to when the Motorola Droid & Cliq are getting Android 2.1. According to the Motorola Support Forums the Motorola Droid should be expecting an over-the –air software upgrade to be sent out soon. And the Motorola Cliq is expected to get Android 2.1 in the second quarter of 2010.  

 

Seems like  the upgrade for the Motorola Cliq shouldn’t be to far off.  But Motorola seems to be vague as to when it comes to the Motorola Droid’s update.

Motorola Cliq could get Android 2.1 in March

A rumor has been flying around the net as to when the Android 2.1 update will come to Motorola Cliq owners. Well, according to BGR’s website they have said that the update could come in March. Their source was not cited though so I guess we will just have to take their word for it.  The CEO of Motorola did announce at CES that the Motorola Cliq & Droid is going to be updated to Android 2.1. And since the Motorola Droid is getting the update this week it would be safe to assume that the Motorola Cliq isn’t to far behind. Review of the T-Mobile Motorola Cliq

Well now that T-mobile is taking pre-orders for the Motorola Cliq on October 19th,here is one of the many reviews for the handset. Here's a quick run down of the tech specs of the Motorola Cliq a 5.0 megapeixl camera with auto focus and video recording, Microsoft Exchange support, support for Facebook, Myspace, Twitter, supports Stereo Bluetooth, supports IM,Wi-Fi, and has a QWERTY slide out keyboard & touch screen keyboard. T-Mobile announces its holiday lineup of handsets

 

 

            Well in a press release yesterday by bussinesswire.com T- Mobile USA is releasing the Mytouch 3g Fender Limited Edition,the Samsung Behold 2, Motorola Cliq, T-Mobile Tap and the Nokia 3711 this holiday season.  The new version of the Mytouch 3g will be called Mytouch 3G Fender. This version of the Mytouch 3G will be a limited edition. It will have a wood grain guitar like finish and have access to the Android market place, which has more the 10,000 applications. The Mytouch 3G Fender will have a lot of personalization options and will also have Googles integrated applications. It will also have a 16 gb micro SD card pre-installed, a 3.5 hand phone jack and will have audio clips and video by musicians.

 

 

Also being announced for the holiday buying season is Samsung’s first Goolge Android based handset the Samsung Behold 2.  The Samsung Behold 2 will be have a exclusive cube menu interface for easy access to photos, music, video, Web browser, Amazon Mp3 store and You Tube.  The handset will have a 3.2-inch AMOLED touch-screen display with multimedia features and Google search.  It will also use the TouchWiz interface that allows people to customize the home screen of the phone. The Samsung Behold 2 will have the Android Market so you will be able to download application, and built in support for T-Mobile 3G network and Wi-Fi. The Samsung Behold 2 is supposed to be available later this year.

 

 

            Another Google Android handset is the Motorola CLIQ, which is also Motorola’s first Google Android handset.  Which focuses on social media and integrates communications from work email, social network accounts, messaging and contacts by using what Motorola calls Motoblur user interface.  Motoblur uses widgets, which are constantly synced and streaming to your home screen. The handset will have Facebook, Twitter, Myspace, and Gmail. Which are constantly updated and streamed to the home screen. The Cliq also features a slide out QWERTY keyboard, a .3.1 – inch HVGA full touch screen. The Motorola Cliq will be going on pre-sale beginning Oct. 19 and is going on sale on Nov 2.  It’s comes in two colors winter white and titanium. The Motorola Cliq will be $199.99 with a two- year contract.

 

 

            Anther phone that is going to be released this holiday season for T-Mobile USA is the T-mobile Tap. Which is a full touch screen that will be in two colors midnight blue and berry. The T-Mobile Tap will have web browsing using T-Mobile's web2go, a 2 megapixel camera with video recording and playback, GPS location based service by TeleNav, a stereo Bluetooth, will have support for personal email, SMS, MMS, IM and use T-Mobile 3G network. The T-Mobile Tap will be available later this year.

 

 

 

 

Nokia is releasing a phone for T-Mobile USA this holiday season the Nokia 3711. Which will have a flip design with an external display and support T-Mobile 3G network. The Nokia 3711 will have built-in GPS for use with Nokia’s Maps service, a 2 megapixel camera with video recording and playback, stereo Bluetooth, supports instant messaging and e-mail. The Nokia 3711 will be available in the coming weeks.

 

 

            The press release did give a little bit of information about T-Mobile USA 3G network. According to the press release is supposed to expand to cover more than 165 million people and be available in more than 230 cities by the end of 2009. And will be available to approximately 200 million people across the U.S. T-Mobile is also upgrading majority of their nation wide 3G network to HSPA 7.2.
