Vonage supports Android

Vonage has released a mobile app for Android that allows for the user to make calls over Wi-Fi & 3G. The Vonage mobile application works over AT&T’s 3G & T-Mobile’s 3G network, so far Vonage is not compatible with Sprint or Verizon. The Vonage mobile application is compatible with Android 1.5 or higher handsets. The only catch is that is cost $24.99 to get unlimited international calling to more then 60 countries or you can chose the pay per minute plan, but you do get unlimited minutes for local and long distance calls over Wi-Fi. So if you happen to have T-Mobile Even More plan for $39.99 for 300 minutes with the $30.00 data plan and $10 for messaging and then $24.99 for Vonage unlimited international calling it would cost 104.98 a month for both your cell service and Vonage. Now if you happened to have T-Mobile’s Even More Plus plans and you have the 500 talk, unlimited text & web for $59.99 a month and you add Vonage mobile unlimited service for 24.99 it would cost you $84.99 a month for both T-Mobile service and Vonage. Keep in mind that the total cost per month is with out taxes. Seems like Vonage might have a good idea here if you travel a lot and don’t want to have to deal with calling overages you might want to get Vonage for your Android phone. Am thinking about switching to T-Mobile’s Even More Plus plans and getting Vonage since I pay about 80 a month for my T-Mobile service as of now. So go to the Android Market and download this app and tell me what you think of it?

Must have Applications for new Google Android owners.

So you decided to get a Google Android handset for you next phone. Whether you got the T-Mobile MyTouch 3G,T-Mobile G1,Sprint's HTC Hero or the ever so popular Verizon Motorola Droid, you are going to need some applications for your handset. Well here are some applications I think most Android owners should have on their new  phone.

For those of us that are glued to the Internet especially when it comes to instant messaging. Your going to need a multi-instant messenger on your phone and a good one is eBuddy.

Ebuddy allows users to use AIM, Windows Live, Yahoo, Facebook, Myspace as well as other instant messaging programs from one application.  I’ve been using this application since I got my T-Mobile G1. At first it did crash and constantly logged me out of the instant messaging programs. But as the developers released new versions of it, it has got more stable since then. Now when you first download the application you are going to need a user account for eBuddy. But once you do that you simply put in your user account information for whatever IM application you use. And now anyone who is on your Facebook,Myspace,AIM,Yahoo,Windows Live friends list can annoy the crap out of you, even when you’re away from your computer. The user interface is extremely simple to use to start chatting with a user you just simply touch the person’s name and start typing.

For those of you that practically live off social networks such as like Twitter & Facebook like me. I have two mobile applications that I think every new user should download.

Facebook

If you’re a huge Facebook junkie and just have to update your Facebook status with everything that’s going on in your life, then you should download Facebook for Android.  Once you download the application from the Android Market place, you just launch the application sign into your Facebook account. The Facebook mobile application is very easy to use The Facebook mobile application will allow you to update your status profile by simply taping on the profile icon. You will also be able to see your notifications & news feed from your friends on Facebook. You can see your friends Facebook pages write on their walls & see their pictures. One of the great things of this mobile application is that you can take a picture from the application and upload it to your Facebook page without having to leave the application. The only thing I don’t like about the Facebook application is that you can’t chat with your Facebook friends. But aside form that it’s still a useful application.

Seesmic

Another good application for all you Twitter addicts out there is Seesmic, which is probably one of the most popular Twitter clients for the Android operating system. This is the only Twitter client that I use after I have tried Twitdroid, I personally think that Seesmic is much more intuitive Twitter mobile application. Seemsic allows the user to have multiple Twitter accounts on the application, this way you can have one account for you personal life and one for work. You can see your Tweet timeline, which show’s all the tweets you have sent out from your account. The application also show’s all the other Twitter users that have tweeted out your tweets. You can read and reply to message’s sent to you from other Twitter followers. Seesmic allows you to view your Twitter account page and send tweets, send messages & visit url from the application.

Google Gestures

If you ever get tired of having to scroll through your long list of contacts, Google has been nice enough to help navigate your contacts list by creating Google Gestures. Google Gestures is an application that allows the users to simply draw the letters of the contact your looking for on the screen. It not only search’s your contact list it will also search your bookmarks.

So those are just some of the applications that I think every new Android cell phone owner should have on their device. So go to the Android Market & download these apps. And feel free to tell me what you think about these Android applications?
