RIM Lowers Pricing Of Their BlackBerry PlayBook

If you’ve been wanting a BlackBerry Playbook, but didn’t due to the price than you might want to pick on up.

According to Research In Motion website the company has decided to lower the price of their BlackBerry Playbook.  There are three different versions of the BlackBerry PlayBook each with a different amount of storage space the 16GB,32GB and 64GB which now cost $299.99. The original pricing of each of the tablets were $499.99 for the 16GB model,$599.99 for the 32 GB model and $699.99 for the 64GB model. So, considering how much they cost now in comparison to the original pricing, it would be a good idea to pick one up if you are interested in getting one. A possible reason for the price cuts is that the tablets were not selling well to consumers. To read more about the BlackBerry PlayBook go to our related post.

RIM Forced To Rename Next Mobile Operating System

Seems that RIM has gotten into a little trouble with the name of the companies next version of their mobile operating system named BBX.

According to the Wall Street Journal a software company called Basis International Ltd. based in Albuquerque New Mexico has filled a temporary restraining order against  RIM. Basis International had already trademarked the name BBX back in 1985 for their software that gives application developers software for programming.  RIM was going to call their next version of their mobile operating system BBX. Since another company has already used the name the smartphone manufacture is planning on calling the next version of their mobile OS (operating system) “BlackBerry 10”.  RIM introduced the BlackBerry Playbook earlier this year using an operating system called QNX, which has an improved user interface over previous BlackBerry mobile operating systems, which was supposed to be renamed BBX.
